NAHI and Home$tart Grants
What are the NAHI and Home$tart Grants?
The Native American Homeowner Initiative (NAHI) Grant is available to Alaska Native, American Indian, and Native Hawaiian homebuyers statewide! This is a $25,000 grant (per household) that can be used for your down payment, closing costs, and prepaid expenses of your home purchase.
Home$tart is a $15,000 grant (per household) that can be used for your down payment, closing costs, and prepaid expenses of your home purchase!
The Grant
Process
Cook Inlet Lending Center will help you to determine if you are eligible for the NAHI program. Our Office Coordinator will help guide you through the process and help you understand the requirements.

Eligibility
Must be a first-time home buyer
Borrower must owner occupy the subject property for five years
Limited to 1-4 unit properties
Must be Alaska Native, American Indian, or Native Hawaiian
Tribal card or letter from your corporation is required
Must be below 80% NAHASDA AMI Income Limits
Must complete homebuyer education
Limited to one grant per household
Must have a first mortgage or DPA loan application in process with Cook Inlet Lending Center
